Another year has come and gone, and it seems that the holidays are almost over quicker than they arrived. 2016 was a wonderful year for all of us here in Georgina, with the support of all the local businesses, as well as the local community, it will be hard to top the amazing things that were accomplished in 2016. However, that should make it everyone's goal to achieve even more in 2017!

From all of us here at Team Peroff, we wish you all a wonderful New Years, and we hope 2017 treats us all as good, if not better, than what 2016 did.

Thank you, and happy New Year!

Especially in the cold, winter mornings that lie ahead when all you want to do is hit the snooze button and throw the covers over your head. Well this weekend marks the end of Daylight Savings time, when we “fall back” one hour and salvage that one extra hour each day. An extra hour to snooze, you say? You got it!                                                                               (Photo credit: Sean MacEntee)

But that doesn’t mean waking up in the morning will be any easier. Time change can affect our sleep habits and have some impact on our health in general. Our circadian rhythms (internal time clock) are

New Orleans: Thank you message in the grotto o...What are you grateful for today, this weekend? Chances are, if you’re like most of us, you haven’t really thought about it. It’s not a judgement; it’s a fact of life. We get wrapped up in the schedules, deadlines, appointments and obligations. We all get distracted by the pressures. It doesn’t take long for that to take its toll. We’re stressed, irritable, tired, overstretched…   But we may not notice that either and we just continue to plug away, each day.

Once a year, however, we pause, typically right before devouring an enormous meal, and give thanks. Thanksgiving is the traditional day of gratitude. Just one day of the year. What about the other 364 days?
Well, why does it matter? You might ask.

But that doesn’t mean waking up in the morning will be any easier. Time change can affect our sleep habits and have some impact on our health in general. Our circadian rhythms (internal time clock) are regulated by daylight hours and mostly the ones we get in the first part of the day.                                                                                         …

Lately the news has been inundated with stories of people leaving children and pets unattended in vehicles. With summer temperatures soaring it seems the old saying “Common sense isn’t so common” rings true.

Every summer, you also often hear of terrible stories of children drowning in lakes and pools and boaters missing, falling overboard or being seriously injured. Water related deaths are often due to poor planning and unsafe practices.  Here are some very basic guidelines. Nothing new here but we all need a reminder now and again!

  • Please consider swimming lessons for the whole family. Swimming is a life skill that should be learned by everyone. Knowing you and your children are water safe is worth the cost.

Summer is here! Ok, just around the corner…  With the long weekend coming up, you may be feeling a bit behind if you haven’t done your backyard prep quite yet.

Whether you enjoy dining outdoors after work, entertaining guests or relaxing by the pool there are a few things that you should consider doing to beautify your backyard oasis and make it THE place to be all summer long.

  1. Clean up – Consider power washing your deck or patio to really freshen it up. If you don’t own a power washer it can be rented from your local gardening or hardware store.  Give your patio furniture a good cleaning and wash all the seat cushions and the gazebo cover. Cut the grass, pull out the weeds, trim the hedges and freshen up the mulch.

The opening ceremonies of the 2014 Olympics are underway.  It’s an exciting and unifying time. Many people, all over the world, are watching right now. There is music, a celebratory energy, anticipation for what is to come and pride; so much pride.

But like most other Olympic games, the Sochi Olympics have seen their share of controversy.  The voice of those that would argue that the Olympics should be boycotted because the hosting country, in this case, Russia, is committing some serious human rights violations is loud and hard to ignore. While others have argued that the Olympics are no place for the airing of grievances and discussion of contentious issues.

But at the heart of it all are the athletes and their families.
